Child Safety Standards
Last updated: October 12, 2026
1. Our commitment
Mawadda has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and for child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Mawadda is a marriage platform built exclusively for adults, and protecting children from harm is a fundamental, non-negotiable standard of our service. These standards describe how we prevent, detect, and respond to child sexual abuse and exploitation on Mawadda, in line with the Google Play families and child safety standards policies and applicable law.
2. Adults only — no children on Mawadda
Mawadda is restricted to adults aged 18 and older and is not directed at children. Every member must confirm they are at least 18, and members may complete additional identity verification. Mawadda does not knowingly permit anyone under 18 to create an account or use the service. If we learn that a minor has created an account, we remove the account and its content promptly.
3. Prohibited conduct
The following are strictly prohibited on Mawadda, and are grounds for immediate removal:
- Any child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — real, digitally created, or otherwise — in any photo, message, or other content;
- The sexualization of minors in any form, including text, images, or references;
- Grooming, solicitation, or any attempt to sexually exploit, endanger, or harm a child;
- Sharing, requesting, or linking to child sexual abuse or exploitation material;
- Any attempt to use Mawadda to make contact with, or facilitate contact with, a child for an illegal or exploitative purpose.
4. How we detect and prevent CSAE
Every profile photo is reviewed — by automated screening and, where needed, by a trained person — before it is shown to anyone. Member messages are automatically screened for a limited set of safety issues. We combine these safeguards with member reporting and staff review to identify and act on prohibited content and behavior. We do not use member content to train AI models, apart from the narrow, de-identified safety-check exception described in our Privacy Policy (Section 6); automated safety checks send content to vendors only to review it, and those vendors do not use it to train their models.
5. Reporting a concern
Any member can report another member or specific content from within the app, and we treat reports of child safety concerns with the highest priority. You do not need to be certain — if something concerns you, please report it. You can also raise a concern with our team directly by opening Support in the app and submitting a request describing the issue. You do not need a Mawadda account to report a concern: email us at [email protected]. We never disclose who submitted a report.
6. How we respond
When we identify CSAE or CSAM, we act quickly: we remove the content, terminate the responsible account, and preserve the relevant evidence. We report apparent child sexual abuse material and exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and/or the appropriate law-enforcement or regional authorities as required by applicable law, and we cooperate with lawful investigations.
7. Legal compliance
Mawadda complies with all applicable child safety laws in the jurisdictions where it operates, including obligations to report child sexual abuse material to the relevant national and regional authorities. We review and update these standards as our service and the applicable requirements evolve.
8. Point of contact
Concerns and inquiries about child safety and CSAE matters can be raised by email at [email protected], or through the in-app Support option; both are monitored by our team. Our team is able to speak to our child sexual abuse material (CSAM) prevention practices and compliance.
